Hogwarts: A History

Welcome to Hogwarts: A History! I'll be your
host and *imitates tour guide barbie voice* tour guide today! (/tour_guide_barbie_voice)
As the owner of this site, I must say: LOOK AT THE OTHER PAGES! Okay, I'm
okay now. Just needed to get that out of my system. This is my page
that I personally compiled, so DON"T copy! Cheater, Cheater,
Ch-Hello? Anyone there? *cricket chirps* I'm stopping. *throat
clearing, attempting to reclaim dignity, or at least what's left of it*
This page started out as a few questions about HPatHBP (or HPB for short), and
kind of just grew from there. Anyways, here is a simple chart to aid in
understanding I have compiled, since I had a little, ok, embarrassing trouble
interpreting other Potterhead pages' shortcuts.
American: SS UK: PS | Philosopher's Stone | ( I prefer the 'original' term) |
CoS | Chamber of Secrets | |
PoA | Prisoner of Azkaban
GoF | Goblet of Fire | |
OotP | Order of the Phoenix
HPB | Half-Blood Prince | My favorite thus far, tragic |
MSB | The Mysterious Seventh Book
MWoHP, or MW | The Magical Worlds of Harry Potter A treasury of Myths, Legends, and Facsinating Facts | A book by David Colbert, published by The Berkley Publishing Group, though only the one from the fifth book ;( |
Before I go any further, here are
some links to funny potter stuff, all from
Mugglenet.com. I only took my favorites/the ones that actually work.
Snape
Doing the Dance
Voldemort Singing-it's
kind of...creepy
PotterPotter... Akin to the Badger song
Potter Puppet Pals-the trick is
to see the one on the left, then the one on the right. It makes
more sense that way.

So... Here's what happened to the Harry Potter Questions
Page...IT MOVED!! So, here it is:
Harry Potter &
the Half-Blood Prince
Who is R.A.B.?
As I sit here in a room somewhat cooler than outside, with my Harry Potter books in a teetering though proud stack beside me, with other Harry Potter type books that have helped me to understand the history behind-and in front of-the words on the pages we read, I wonder: Who is R.A.B.? Why did Voldemort mark a half-blood as his equal? Why does my book not answer these questions? Why do I not answer these questions? Why am I writing in an emerald green script that looks almost as though a wizard wrote it? That, at least, I can answer immediately. Every summer, Harry receives his school supplies list written in emerald green ink. As for the other questions, let us begin...
First
question: Who is R.A.B.? I believe that he (for I am sure it was a he) was
the younger brother of someone we dedicated readers all know, a blood traitor in
the midst of those obsessed by pure bloodedness...that's right-Sirius Black.
Though we know much about him, little is known about his family, or his past
before the age of about 16, then things are murky still until we reach
Azkaban.
R.A.B. is Regulus Black because:
The note is addressed to the Dark Lord, not
He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named
He says "I will be dead by the time you read this..."
He (Regulus) was in You-Know-Who's inner circle...yet
Dumbledore offers proof that You-Know-Who operated (operates?) alone
To
the Dark Lord
I know I will be dead long before you read this
but I want you to know that it was I who discovered your secret
I have stolen the real Horcrux and intend to destroy it as soon as I can.
I face death in the hope that when you meet your match,
you will be mortal once more.
R.A.B.
Harry
Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, Book 6
By J.K.Rowling
p.609
Question #2
Why did Voldemort mark a half-blood as his
equal?
To answer this question, we must first quote Harry Potter and the Order of the
Phoenix, Book 5, by J.K.Rowling. (p.841)
"THE
ONE WITH THE POWER TO VANQUISH THE DARK LORD APPROACHES....BORN TO THOSE WHO
HAVE THRICE DEFIED HIM, BORN AS THE SEVENTH MONTH DIES...AND THE DARK LORD WILL
MARK HIM AS HIS EQUAL, BUT HE WILL HAVE POWER THE DARK LORD KNOWS NOT...AND
EITHER MUST DIE AT THE HAND OF THE OTHER FOR NEITHER CAN LIVE WHILE THE OTHER
SURVIVES...THE ONE WITH THE POWER TO VANQUISH THE DARK LORD WILL BE BORN AS THE
SEVENTH MONTH DIES...."
As you know, this could also have been Neville Longbottom, whose parents
were tortured into madness by Death Eaters, who was a pure-blood...but the Dark
Lord marked the half-blood...
